Tenby

Tenby has been a popular seaside resort since the Victorians started visiting, and today, it is an extremely popular spot for people of all ages. It’s Welsh name, Dinbych-y-Pysgod, meaning Little Fortress of the Fish is a reference to the town’s history, from the busy fishing boats leaving the harbour to it’s medieval castle walls. The walls mark Tenby’s original boundaries, and tell of the town’s proud history, centuries ago when they were used to fortify the town from the Welsh rebellion.

Walk along Tenby’s narrow cobbled streets, lined with gift shops, cafes and restaurants, or wander along the busy harbour, where you can board a fishing boat, or one of the cruises to nearby Caldey Island. Caldey offers bird and seal watching opportunities, and a chance to visit the Monastery of the Cistercian Monks who inhabit the Island.

Tenby is a serene, attractive destination sure to charm you. Those in search of spending time by the beach are truly spoilt for choice here; award winning beaches include North Beach, South Beach and the Castle Beach. The beaches of Saundersfoot are also just a short drive away.

If you’re looking for a traditional British seaside holiday, Tenby is the perfect destination.
